POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – The Ministry of Agriculture of Indonesia through Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) wants to Improve Indonesian society understanding about infertile eggs.  The infertile egg itself is an egg that does not through the fertilization process by sperm from male chicken. Infertility also can be called sterility, or a term that can be defined as a failure, unsuccessful, or cannot form.
Director of Animal Husbandry and Animal Health of (Dirjen PKH), I Ketut Diarmita, explained that there are two kinds of infertile eggs. Those two infertile eggs differentiate by the source of the egg. The first type of infertile egg is an infertile egg from purebred layer chicken or commercial layer chicken, not from the breeding farm where the female and male chicken are separated or it has been commonly called as consumption egg. “This egg is an infertile egg that safe and healthy for consumption is not characterized by the certain colour of the shell.”

On the other hand, the second type of infertile egg is an egg from breeding farm purebred chicken. This infertile egg is a hatching egg (HE) that has not fertilized by a sperm cell from a rooster. Fertilization process of HE can be through artificial insemination and by mixing hen and rooster in one pen. This infertile egg has been through 18 days incubation process in setter machine or incubator. “This egg is banned to be sale in the market and it already stated in The Ministry of Agriculture regulation (Permentan) No 32/2017 about provision, distribution, and control of chicken and egg consumption,” said Ketut.
