POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – After the Indonesian Government announced the first case on March 2020, COVID-19 has been changed the living order of Indonesian society. Based on worldometers.info on Wednesday (22/7), this deadly virus has been infected 89.869 people with the number of death reached 4.320 in Indonesia. So far, there are a lot of regulations that have been issued by the Government to overcome pandemic of COVID-19. Yet, it seems like those policy poorly effective on suppress this pandemic. In addition, this pandemic also has significant impact on Indonesian economy situation.

Poultry Industry is a business ecosystem which involve a large number of human resource. As result of that, poultry industry should prepared strategies to face a new normal era. Moreover, they should think of how to arrange health and safety protocol in production management. Those who involve in this industry also have to anticipate the changes and shift of consumption pattern of the citizen led by COVID-19 pandemic.

The poultry business doers admitted that they see there is a shift on people’s transaction pattern of poultry product, which from conventional system (transaction on wet market), to online based system. It is predicted that there will be an increase in societies’ new habit to shop in a modern stores, such as supermarket and meat shop. Furthermore, it is also predicted that there is an escalation in citizen’s awareness about clean and healthy living. This new normal era will lead to a shift in people’s preference of how they choose food, especially animal based product.

Surely, everyone expect that in this new normal era will gradually boost Indonesia’s economy situation. However, based on various analysis from experts, it seems that the challenge that must passed by business doers of poultry industry in new normal era will be more complicated.
