POULTRYINDONESIA, Jakarta – Regarding to the latest issue about the application of growth hormone in broiler chicken which will harmful for human health. The Ministry of Agriculture (Kementan) through Directorate General Animal Husbandry and Animal Health (Ditjen PKH) confirms that the information or news is a hoax.
“In the constitutions, number 18/2009 about Animal Husbandry and Animal Health expressly prohibits the use of any hormones for consumptions animals,” Said Director-General Ditjen PKH, I Ketut Diarmita, in Jakarta, Friday (03/04).

He added that based on the constitution mandate, the government already arranged food safety application system assurance to every business unit of food products of animal origin, including chicken meat, from farm to table. “Chicken meat is one of perishable food, so that government needs to keep eyes on food safety.” 
Related to the utilization of growth hormone to robust broiler growth, Ketut explained that nowadays, the broiler is a genetically selected fast-growing chicken with a specific and measurable cultivation process. Including feeding and health management are strictly regulated. “There is no use of hormones in broiler cultivation.” PI
